“道德经”又称“道德真经”、“老子”、“五千言”、“老子五千文”等，是老子的著作，中国春秋战国时期道家学派奉为创始典籍。原文上篇“德经”、下篇“道经”，不分章，后改为“道经”在前，“德经”在后，并分为81章。“德经”在前是谓先修自身心意，后“道经”是谓以身心精进，在体悟道之所传。“道德经”是我国历史上首部完整的哲学系统，微言大义，一语万端，当为“万经之王”。

本书是“无量寿经”五种译本的会集本。“无量寿经”是净土宗的重要经典，介绍了阿弥陀佛（无量寿佛）接引众生的大愿、极乐世界的美好景象，以及娑婆世界的污秽不堪等内容。该经以实相为经正体，以发菩提心，一向专念阿弥陀佛为宗，以往生极乐世界净土，证得三不退转为归宿。此经前后有十二译，存五译、失七译；会集、节略本四本，本书即为其中之一。民国年间夏莲居老居士根据当时现存的①东汉支娄迦谶译“佛说无量清净平等觉经”；②曹魏康僧铠译“佛说无量寿经”；③吴支谦译“阿弥陀三耶三佛萨楼佛檀过度人道经”；④唐菩提流支译“无量寿如来会”（即“大宝积经”第五会）；⑤北宋法贤译“大乘无量寿庄严经”五种译本会集而成。

中国传统启蒙教材，相传为宋代王应麟所作。取材广范，包括中国传统文化的文学、历史、哲学、天文地理、人伦义理、忠孝节义等等，而核心思想又包括了“仁，义，诚，敬，孝”。用简洁通俗的白话讲出了亘古不变的哲理，脍炙人口、广为流传；不受文字限制，用通俗的文字将经史子集等各部类的知识揉合在一起，全文用典极多，全篇充满乐观精神；在它出现之前，蒙学读物都是四个字一句，‘三字经’则以三言形式出现，读起来轻松愉快，更符合儿歌特点，明朝赵南星称其“句短而易读，殊便于开蒙”，故此为蒙学第一书。

《增广贤文》是中国明代时期编写的道家儿童启蒙书目。又名《昔时贤文》、《古今贤文》，成于万历年间。此书集结了从古到今的各种格言、谚语。后来，经过明、清两代文人的不断增补，才改成现在这个模样。《增广贤文》的内容大致有这样几个方面：一是谈人及人际关系，二是谈命运，三是谈如何处世，四是表达对读书的看法。人称“读了增广会说话，读了幼学走天下”，“增广”就是《增广贤文》。

鲁迅逝世后第一部最系统、最精辟的研究鲁迅思想的专著。作者系华东师范大学历史系的教授，是我国著名的历史学家、社会学家。他用历史唯物主义的观点，扼要刻画了鲁迅思想的发展过程，即从受进化论、尼采主义的思想影响，到成为确信“惟有新兴无产者才有将来”的社会主义者，并以鲁迅的这一思想发展来反映中国现代史的转变与进展。1956年，鲁迅的遗孀许广平曾推荐这部作品，认为乃是了解鲁迅、研究鲁迅的首要著作。

《商君书》也称《商子》、《商君》，商鞅及其后学作，是战国时期法家学派的代表作之一，全书共26篇，其中第16篇和第21篇亡佚，有目无书。《韩非子·五蠹》说：“今境内之民皆言治，藏商、管之法者家有之。”但因《商君书》中《更法》、《错法》、《徕民》等多篇涉及商鞅死后之事，显非出自商鞅之手。《四库全书总目提要》云“殆法家流，掇鞅馀论，以成是编”，应是商鞅及其后学的著作汇编，其中着重论述了商鞅一派的变法理论和具体措施。

Sara Jeannette Duncan, later Cotes (1861-1922), was a Canadian author and journalist. She first worked as a schoolteacher before taking up journalism as a full-time occupation. Various freelancing work led to her taking her first position at the Washington Post in 1885. In 1886, she made history as the first woman to be hired as a professional journalist in Canada, taking a regular position at the Toronto Globe, now the Globe and Mail. She later moved to the Montreal Star, where she was the paper s Parliamentary correspondent. She published 22 books, including two volumes of personal sketches and a collection of short stories. Her first book, A Social Departure: How Orthodocia and I Went Around the World by Ourselves (1890) documented an around-the-world trip, but she is best known today for her 1904 novel The Imperialist. Amongst her other works are: A Daughter of Today (1894), The Story of Sonny Sahib (1894), A Voyage of Consolation (1898), The Path of a Star (1898), Hilda: A Story of Calcutta (1898), The Crow s Nest (1901), The Pool in the Desert (1903), Set in Authority (1906) and Cousin Cinderella: A Canadian Girl in London (1908).
